Namaskaram, Rasikas and Friends,

Layyasaaram Institute of Indian Arts warmly invites you to Aradhana, an afternoon devoted to the life and compositions of Oothukadu Venkata Kavi (OVK) — revered by generations as India's own Bach for the extraordinary rhythmic and melodic architecture woven into his kritis. This year's Aradhana is our most ambitious offering yet: a single afternoon that moves from storytelling, to virtuosic instrumental music, to dance — and closes with a shared meal.

The Afternoon

2:00 PM

Voices of Yore

A thematic storytelling of OVK's life, told through his own compositions — presented by Vanitha Suresh with Sanjay, Sriram, Amirtha (Amirthavalli Candala), Gowri (Gowrilakshmi Nagarajan), Meena (Meenakshi Iyer) and their students.

3:00 PM

Fretless Wonder

The chitravina has no frets — and OVK's joy has no limits.

A concert by Sangeet Samrat Sri Chitravina N. Ravikiran on the chitravina, accompanied by Sanjay Suresh (violin), Sriram N. Iyer (mridangam) and Balaji Chandran (ghatam).

5:00 PM

7 Jewels
